Women in Danish glass art brought their influence on the glass scene to bear already in the 1980s when the so-called Glass Studio Movement was formed in the USA and across many countries in Europe. Over the years the technical quality of execution improved essentially and from blown glass techniques, the attention was turned to cold techniques. Many of the women in Danish glass art perfected their blowing skills in Sweden or in USA.  Others began using so called slumping and fusing of flat sheet glass (e.g. Tchai Munch and Pipaluk Lake), some developed mould glass casting (e.g. Lene Bødker and Karen Mørch). As the production costs are very high, some share the equipment for glassmaking as for example the women in the Luftkraft Glassstudio. Most of their glass creation proves that the glass material can be a medium of endless artistic expression.

Pavla Rossini, PhD in Aesthetics, is an Independent Curator and Cultural Writer specialized in glass design and design history. Besides authoring many studies, publications and catalogues, Pavla has curated a number of exhibitions, such as Danish Furniture Icons in Prague or Crossing Boarders at Glass Museum Ebeltoft. Recently, Pavla has edited and contributed to the book A Century of Danish and Czech Furniture Design, which is published by the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in cooperation with KADK Copenhagen. Further, Pavla lectures at several European universities in addition to focusing on cultural management.
